Parañaque, Las Piñas, Cavite to go waterless for 22 hrs

Water concessionaire Maynilad on Tuesday announced a 22-hour service interruption in some areas of Parañaque, Las Piñas and Cavite starting Wednesday.

The water cutoff from 12:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. is due to the interconnection of 400-mm pipelines and the insertion of a 450-mm butterfly valve to the existing main line along Quirino Avenue near Kabihasnan in Parañaque.

The water interruption will affect the areas of Palanyag Road; J. De Leon; Gatchalian 1; R. Medina; Aurenina; Espiritu; Villanueva; Multinational; Green Court; Palanyag/ Canaynay; Bernabe; Salvador Estate; Claramen; Villa Lourdes; Valley 2, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15; Fortunata Village; Dela Cruz Compound; Cruz Compound; Topland; SM/ LPHI/ Virra Mall; San Dionisio; La Huerta; Dongalo; Sto. Niño; and Tambo.

Areas that will have low pressure to no water are Las Piñas City and Bacoor, Kawit and Noveleta towns in Cavite.

“These efforts are in line with the objective of Maynilad's new owners, DMCI and Metro Pacific, to upgrade the water system and improve service throughout the West Zone. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience the water service interruption may cause,” Maynilad said.

Meanwhile, some areas of Malabon, Navotas and Tondo in Manila will have low pressure to no water for seven hours beginning 11 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008.

“The water service interruption is due to the interconnection of the 300-mm line to the existing 400-mm mainline along Rodriguez St. corner Honorio Lopez, Balut, Tondo, Manila,” Maynilad said.

The areas that will have low pressure to no water for seven hours include Barangay Longos, Barangay North Bay and Barangay San Rafael in Malabon/Navotas; and Barangays 129 to 146 in Balut, Tondo.

“The repair and maintenance works are part of Maynilad's continuing program to upgrade and improve its service to customers in these areas,” the company added.

Residents affected by the water cutoff are advised to store water good for the duration of the water service interruption.

The company said customers may call Maynilad Water Hotline 1626 for more information.
