MANILA, Philippines - A motorist who claimed to be a television reporter found himself in hot water after defying a police checkpoint and cursing at police in Manila, dzBB radio reported Thursday.
Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported that trouble began for the suspect, initially identified as Louie Mercado of Sta. Ana, Manila, sped past a checkpoint along Osmeña Highway.
Initial investigation showed that when checkpoint police asked to see his driver's license, Mercado sped off, prompting police to give chase and corner him along Quirino Avenue.
Mercado showed police ID cards showing his supposed "affiliation" with television stations SBN-21 and UNTV-37, and cursed at the policemen, prompting them to take him into custody.
A check with SBN-21 and UNTV-37 showed Mercado was not connected with them. - GMANews.TV
