A policeman shot and killed three robbery suspects as he was on his way home in Mandaluyong City before dawn Wednesday.
Senior Inspector Hoover Pascual of the Mandaluyong Police said he was driving from his father's house on Coronado Street in Barangay Hulo when he chanced upon the suspects as they were robbing a woman.
"Nakita ko parang may baril kaya bumaba na ako ng sasakyan dala 'yung shotgun ko," said Pascual.
Pascual said the suspects hurled invectives at him and opened fire after he introduced himself as a policeman.
"Sabi ko pulis ito! Minura nila ako tapos pinaputukan na ako," he said.
Two of the slain suspects were named as Alex Galicia and Rodel Zaragoza. Police said Zaragoza has a pending robbery case.
Galicia was tagged as a member of a burglary syndicate that victimizes homes in Barangay Hulo.
