Zamboanga City - A ten-day tactical warfare simulation system exercise, participated by the Philippine and American Marines, formally started in Zamboanga City Wednesday.
This is the first time the two elite forces of the two countries’ armed forces participated in military exercises in the area.
The deputy commander of the US 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force and tactical exercises control group, Fred Grant said in an interview that the training would enhance the capability of the Philippine Marines in tactical warfare. He said it would also help develop camaraderie among Filipino and American soldiers.
Aside from humanitarian missions, the US government is also determined to help the Armed Forces of the Philippines in training Filipino soldiers, particularly in learning new tactics in military operations.
The exercise will be handled by around 20 instructors from the US Marines, led by Grant.
Naval Forces Western Mindanao Combined deputy commander Edgar Abogado said the training would be a great help for members of the Philippine Marine Corps.
But he explains there will be no actual tactical warfare simulation because the exercises would be purely classroom instruction.
