The stench of liquefied petroleum gas hangs over Pasig River in Manila as an LPG barge hit Ayala Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The MV Andrea Loreine was passing under Ayala bridge when it hit the bridge and was pierced.
A DzMM report said that the Manila Fire Department sprayed water to avoid fire from breaking out, and to lessen the stench coming out from the barge.
“Probably the barge has not anticipated the high tide, that’s why it hit the bridge. We are spraying water on the barge to make sure that it will not ignite,” said Senior Fire Officer 2 Emmanuel Gaspar.
Gaspar said that the barge was heading to Pandacan when the incident happened. As of posting time, the Manila Fire Department continues to monitor the barge for possible explosion.
