MANILA, Philippines The Manila City Hall has ordered the closure of the New Antipolo Market for operating without a mayors permit and municipal license.
The closure order, signed by lawyer Rafaelito Garayblas, secretary to Mayor Alfredo Lim, GMANews.TV learned on Thursday.
The market is being operated by the New Antipolo Entrepreneur & Development Corp. (NAEDC).
According to Garayblas, even the market's 10 service personnel had no occupational permits and the building itself had no fire safety inspection certificates nor electrical inspection clearance and sanitary permit.
It had no garbage fee receipt for the 300 stalls located there.
"Our record shows that despite final notice served on Aug. 1, 2008, you have not settled/complied with the above noted deficiencies, Garayblas said in his order.
The New Antipolo Market is actually being run by Loreto Roque and Delfin Alcorez, according to city legal officer Renato de la Cruz.
The closure will be implemented by the Nelson Alivio, director of the Bureau of Permits; Alex Gutierrez, station commander District Special Project Unit (DSPU); and the Manila Police District. - GMANews.TV
