The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) has announced that classes in the National Capital Region (NCR) will resume on Thursday as weather forecasts predict typhoon Karen (international codename Nuri) will be out of the country by Thursday afternoon.
"We expect some rains in Metro Manila tomorrow but less frequent as compared this monring. Classes in NCR tomorrow will resume already," NDCC spokesperson Anthony Golez told ABS-CBN News in a text message Wednesday.
Golez said weather forecasts predict that northern Luzon will still be stormy Thursday, and western Luzon will experience monsoon rains.
However, the typhoon will be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday afternoon.
Classes were suspended in all levels Wednesday noon as Karen triggered torrential rains and flooding in large parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
"Because of the wider coverage of cloudiness caused by the typhoon, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro has ordered all classes in NCR suspended," Golez said earlier.
The NDCC have also suspended classes Wednesday in Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Quirino, Nueva Viscaya, Northern Aurora, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan.
