MANILA, Philippines - The police in the Davao Region (Region 11) went on full alert on Friday, a day after a bus bombing killed a passenger and hurt at least 35 others in Digos City, Davao del Sur.
The regional police chief, Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II, ordered security tightened around bus terminals and discouraged drivers from picking up passengers outside, according to a report aired over radio dzBB's Davao affiliate.
One of passengers injured in the blast, Sara Fe Aballero, 19, died at 2 a.m. on Friday at a hospital in Davao City.
Police suspect the Al-Khobar extortion group to be behind the incident, noting that it had demanded P500,000 from the Metro Shuttle bus management. - GMANews.TV
