MANILA, Philippines Anti-drug operatives seized P300-million liquefied methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and arrested five foreigners in a raid on a lab-warehouse in Quezon province early Wednesday.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) head Dionisio Santiago said those arrested were two Taiwanese and three mainland Chinese who were part of an Asia-wide drug ring.
"Syndicate ito, combination ng Taiwanese and Chinese (It's a syndicate whose members include Taiwanese and Chinese)," Santiago said in an interview on DZBB.
DZBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported that the gang belongs to the "A-Chang" drug group, which is allied with the "Chin San Lim" syndicate operating in the region.
Four of the members were initially identified as Wu Ju Shin, Lin Hai Jiu, Wen Shi Jiang and Wu Jin Yang.
Santiago said the gang's main warehouse is in Biñan in Laguna province. He said some members of the group had been arrested in an earlier raid there.
The raid took place in Maragundon village in Real town in Quezon. Santiago said the liquefied shabu was worth P300 million, excluding the cost of other chemicals and equipment found inside the facility.
Real is a third-class town with a population of 30,684 people in 5,849 households. It is a coastal town noted for its rural beach resorts. - GMANews.TV
