Camarines Norte municipal police chief gunned down in Daet

MANILA, Philippines - A Camarines Norte municipal police chief was shot dead by his colleague after they had an argument while having dinner at a restaurant in Daet, Camarines Norte Thursday night.

A police report sent to GMANews.TV said Chief Inspector Wilson Perez, head of Labo police in Camarines Norte, died on the spot due to several gunshot wounds.

The suspect - Inspector Ralph Jason Vela Cruz Oida, 22 - and companion Pedro Villa Cruz, 36, a provincial agriculture office employee, were immediately arrested by responding policemen. They are detained at Daet municipal police station.

The report said that about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the victim was taking his dinner at King Fisher Resto along Salcedo Street with the suspect who was then drunk.

The report said an argument between the two allegedly prompted Oida to draw his caliber 40 TM Glock pistol and shot the victim.

Recovered from the scene were Oida’s firearm and its empty shells, caliber .45 pistol owned by the victim, and caliber .45 owned by Villa Cruz. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
