Classes suspended in NCR

Classes on all levels were suspended in Metro Manila Wednesday due to heavy rains brought on by typhoon Karen, disaster officials said.

Anthony Golez, spokesman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, said the suspension will take effect Wednesday noon. "Because of the wider coverage of cloudiness caused by the typhoon, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro has ordered all classes in NCR suspended," he said.

The NDCC earlier suspended classes in Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Quirino, Nueva Viscaya, Northern Aurora, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan.

A radio dzMM report said floods have affected parts of the Camanava area including Malabon and Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City.
