Suspected cholera outbreak kills 21 in Sultan Kudarat

A suspected outbreak of cholera has killed 21 residents in Barangay Milbuk in the town of Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat province.

Since the epidemic, which reportedly started July 30, Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Sultan Kudarat chapter has already monitored that 147 individuals have been infected.

Results of stool and water sample analysis by the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine is expected to be released soon.

The analysis will help social workers and PNRC volunteers address the ailments of the villagers who are mostly of the Manobo tribe.

The barangay chairman of Barangay Milbuk is appealing for aid as more residents in far-flung villages were reported to have been suffering from the same symptoms. Dexter Ganibe, ABS-CBN General Santos City
