Consistent with the government’s poverty reduction programs, residents of towns of Hilongos, Hindang and Matalom all in Leyte province, can now avail themselves of titling services from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Purificasion Daloos, DENR regional public affairs officer, said the services which are under the Land Administration and Management Project (LAMP) would greatly help the recipients.
"A lot of money, time and effort will be saved because they will no longer go to DENR office to apply and acquire land title,'' she said.
Daloos added that base camps would be transferred to other municipalities after six-months to one-year of its operation depending on the availability of potential lots for titling.
"We have to extend the same services to the other municipalities. This is actually bringing the titling services of the DENR closer to the people, and then they should visit these base camps and file their title applications starting August," she explained.
In 2007, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in Leyte yielded the most number of patent issuances as a result of the LAMP implementation in the province.
Under LAMP, 7,806 free patents were issued covering an area of 4,684 hectares in different towns in Leyte that year.
