MANILA, Philippines - Two of 11 crewmembers of a cargo vessel that sank in stormy weather off Antique last Thursday have been rescued, Visayas-based Bombo Radyo reported Sunday.
Reports from the Philippine Coast Guard said a passing foreign vessel heading for Tabaco City in Albay rescued Revy June Nunkil and Lamberto Aranjuez in Tablas Strait near Mindoro.
However, nine other crewmembers of the M/V Hidago Expedition were still missing as of noon Sunday.
Initial reports from the Coast Guard in Western Visayas showed the cargo vessel sank off Maniquin Island at Bosyo Point, in Antique, near Pandan Port.
The vessel was carrying some 24,500 sacks of salt when it sank.
The Coast Guard also said the vessel was about to dock at Pandan Port to take shelter from the stormy weather when it sank. - GMANews.TV
