Two suspected robbers were killed by policemen in an encounter on Commonwealth Avenue in Philcoa area in Quezon City, Wednesday night.
Superintendent Barnabe Balba, Quezon City Police District-Intelligence Division chief, said policemen on patrol spotted three men running away from a jeepney around 10 p.m.
When accosted, the suspected pulled out their guns and fired at the policemen. Two of the suspects died during the encounter while the third escaped.
The suspects were unidentified as of posting time.
A jeepney passenger policemen that the suspects boarded the jeepney on Tandang Sora Avenue and declared the heist upon reaching Philcoa.
Police said that the three had been tagged in robbery incidents along Commonwealth Avenue in the past.
They managed to elude arrest by transferring their base of operations from time to time, until the gunfight Wednesday night.
A manhunt is underway for the third suspect.
