MANILA, Philippines - Two members of the Judiciary were chosen to fill in the vacancies at the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
In a press conference, Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita on Wednesday said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has appointed retired Court of Appeals Justice Lucenito N. Tagle and Malabon Regional Trial Court Judge Leonardo L. Leonida to the poll body.
Their appointment leave only one vacancy in the seven-man commission. The Comelec has earlier called on the President to immediately fill in the vacancies left by retired commissioners and one who passed away.
Mr. Ermita also announced that actress Amalia Amador Muhlach, also known as Amalia Fuentes, has been named acting member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Secretary Edgardo Pamintuan was named chairman and chief executive officer of North Luzon Railways Corp.
Other new appointments are: Defense Assistant Secretary Ruben Ciron as Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Public Works and Highways regional director Romeo Momo as Public Works undersecretary, Josephine de Castro-Dominguez as undersecretary for Indigenous Peoples, Danilo Valero as executive director of the Public Works Road Board secretariat, and Angelo Ang Palaña as commissioner representing the employers sector at the National Labor Relations Commission. - BusinessWorld
