Three buried alive in Cebu landslide

Three people, including two children, died while another went missing following a landslide in Samboan, Cebu on Sunday night.

Senior Police Officer 1 Dominador Perolino, acting town police chief, identified the young fatalities as Nathaniel and Errol, both surnamed Cañete. The third fataility was identified as Florence Galla.

Perolino said the three died after four homes in Barangay Poblacion were buried by a landslide Sunday night.

The police officer said the landslide occurred due to heavy rains in Cebu province the whole Sunday.

A certain Edwin Galla Jr. remained missing while six occupants of the buried houses have been brought to Malabuyoc District Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a total of 134 families were evacuated from three flooded villages in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.

Hardest-hit by the flooding was Barangay Cugman, where a total of 11 houses were washed away by the flood's strong current.

In the villages of Tablon and Gusa, several families also fled from their homes due to heavy flooding.
