(UPDATE) Year-old boy, 3 others die in Cebu landslide

The body of a one-year old boy has been recovered from one of four homes buried by a landslide in Samboan town in Cebu province on Sunday night.

The recovery of Edwin Galla Jr.'s body increased the death toll from the landslide to four. Two other children identified as Nathaniel and Errol, both surnamed Cañete, and a certain Florence Galla, were also killed by the soil collapse brought by heavy rains.

Senior Police Officer 1 Dominador Perolino, acting town police chief, said the victims died after the landslide hit four homes in Barangay Poblacion.

The police officer said the landslide occurred due to heavy rains in Cebu province all day Sunday.

Six occupants of the buried houses were brought to Malabuyoc District Hospital for treatment. With a report from Jun Perez, dyAB Cebu
