Teenagers' quarrel claims another life

MANILA, Philippines — A 17-year-old man died and his friend was injured in an apparent grudge fight with a rival group in Pandacan, Manila, on Saturday morning.

Police identified the slain victim as Daryll Lagatic, an out-of-school-youth and resident of 1415 Ilang-Ilang St. in Pandacan district. He did not reach Ospital ng Maynila (Osma) alive due to a bullet wound in the neck.

Lagatic’s friend, 18-year-old John Mark Abujen of 1403 Ilang-Ilang St., was treated at the hospital for a bullet wound in the leg.

Police said they were looking for Joemel Rentoria, alias “Joey" and a companion named “Ewad," who fled after the incident.

Detective Jonathan Ruiz, of the Manila Police District’s (MPD)-Homicide Section, said the incident occurred at 1 a.m. in front of the house of one of the victims on Ilang-Ilang St.

The victims were talking when the assailant came Ewad allegedly shot them with an improvised shotgun. Police quoted witnesses as saying the the suspects and the victims had a sort of misunderstanding. - GMANews.TV
