Viva Films' Torotot
will compete in the 35th Brussels International Independent
Film Festival.
Dalawa ang ibinigay na
director's cut ng Viva Films for its upcoming movie Torotot (Des Tierro) na
idinirek ni Maryo J. de los Reyes mula sa panulat ni Jun Lana. Ang una ay noong
isang linggo sa MyCinema ng Greenbelt 3, kung saan nanood din ang General Director
ng Brussels International Independent Film Festival (BIIFF) na si Mr. Robert Malengreau.
Mr. Malengreau
is a champion of Filipino films and the said international film festival has
been a showcase of some of the best Filipino movies through the years.
Dalawang
beses nang nanalo si Yul Servo sa Brussels for Best Actor—for Batang Westside and
Naglalayag. Nabigyan ng parangal as Best Ensemble Actor noon sina Dolphy, Eric
Quizon, and Epi Quizon for Markova. Nakakuha na rin ng Best Actress awards sina
Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, at Nora Aunor for their respective movies Dekada ‘70,
Crying Ladies, and Naglalayag.
Dahil ang Naglalayag ay
idinirek ni Direk Maryo, na nanalo rin ng Special Jury Prize for his
contribution in the world cinema in its 31st festival noong 2004,
nagtanong si Mr. Malengreau kung may bago siyang pelikula. Nagkataon namang
katatapos lang ng direktor ng Torotot, so he was invited sa first director's-cut screening.
Nagustuhan ni Mr.
Malengreau ang Torotot—which is about double adultery starring Yul, Maui
Taylor, Baron Geisler, and Precious Adona—kung kaya't nagtanong ang festival
director kay Direk Maryo kung malalagyan ba ito agad ng subtitle. After
assuring that this could be done, all is set.
August 1, nakatanggap
na ng official invitation ang Torotot sa 35th Festival International
du Film Independent na gaganapin sa Brussels, Belgium from November 4 to 9. Si
Yul ang nakatakdang pumunta sa festival dahil may isa pa siyang independent
movie na tinanggap sa filmfest.

website of BIIFF, listed din ang Foster Child na kapapanalo lang din ng Best Film and
Best Actress for Cherry Pie Picache sa 29th Durban International
Film Festival sa South Africa. Closing movie sa Brussels International Film
Festival ang Foster Child, na official selection din sa out competition.
Ipalalabas pa lang ang
Torotot this August 20 after its second director's cut this Saturday, August 9,
sa UP Film Institute, kung saan dadalo ang mga artista sa pelikula.
May R-13 version na ang movie dahil approved na rin ito for showing in
SM Cinemas na hindi nagpapalabas ng R-18 movies.
