Mom stabs own kids in Pangasinan - report

MANILA, Philippines - Poverty reportedly drove a mother to stab her two children in Umingan town in Pangasinan province, a radio report said Thursday.

DZBB reported that the mother was placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) while the two children are still under observation in a hospital.

The report withheld the names of the mother and the two children, but said the victims were 11 and nine years old.

Initial investigation showed the mother had been suffering from depression since her husband left the family, and that she had worried she could not provide for her children.

Umingan is a third-class town with a population of 58,603 people in 12,346 households. - GMANews.TV
