MANILA, Philippines - The US Embassy in Manila on Wednesday announced that the
medical examination fee for immigrant visa applicants have been raised by its accredited medical facility.
Further price increases in medical examination fees, the embassy said in a statement, are anticipated in the coming months as an additional required vaccine becomes available in the Philippines.
The increase was imposed by the St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC) on May 2 which increased the examination fee by $30.70.
This, the Embassy said in a statement, was meant to cover the costs of administering newly available vaccinations that are required for immigration to the United States.
The new medical exam fees will be $213.35 for adults (15 years and older) and $185.35 for children (under 15 years of age).
The embassy reminded applicants that the SLMCEC does not accept dollar payments. The fees must be paid in Philippine pesos at the prevailing exchange rate.
For more details on current fees, the Embassy invited applicants to view its website.
The US Embassy had earlier increased its immigration visa application fee from $335 to $400.
The application fee increase was imposed on January 1, 2008.
The embassy said that the immigrant visa application fee was increased from $335 to $355 plus a $45 visa security enhancement surcharge.
Therefore the total immigrant visa application fee is $400, it said.
For "K" and "V" non-immigrant visas, the application fee will increase from $100 to $131.- GMANews.TV
