Several houses were flooded after a wall collapsed near the breakwater in the villages of Niyugan, Tonsuya and Catmon in Malabon City on Tuesday.
Niyugan residents said the crash took place near the highway construction site of the Department of Public Works and Highways. The collapse occurred around 9:30 a.m.
A resident who declined to be identified told abs-cbnNEWS.com that DPWH workers removed the rocks supporting the breakwater, causing the wall to crash. The wall's collapse resulted in flooding.
Several houses were immediately flooded.
As of this posting, residents said the floodwaters have subsided. Others, meanwhile, said that the high tide expected on Wednesday will certainly bring in more floodwaters to their homes.
