MINILA, Philippines - A woman was killed while her Canadian husband was wounded after a land dispute turned violent in Cagayan de Oro City, a radio report said early Wednesday.
Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro reported that the incident took place at the Scions Subdivision in Canitoan village in Cagayan de Oro City.
Village chief Marlyn Lagumen identified the fatality as Lydia Nacalaban, and the wounded Canadian as Brono Lupibid. The assailant was a certain Bisavilla Coronel.
Initial investigation showed Nacalaban and Coronel had an argument over a house and lot, and continued to exchange words despite appeals by Lagumen for an amicable settlement.
Nacalaban and Lupibid, who insisted the property was a foreclosed unit, went out of the village hall but Coronel followed them and shot them.
Nacalaban died of gunshot wounds to the head and stomach while Lupibid was hit in the chest. Coronel surrendered to police immediately after the incident. - GMANews.TV
