An elderly couple died during a fire that razed down their home Friday evening in Malabon.
The victims were identified as 79-year-old Serafin Reyes and his wife Iluminada, 80.
"Humihingi po ng saklolo ang mga magulang ko wala nang makapasok dahil doon mismo sa harap ng bahay namin naano iyung sunog. Iyung kaharap noon mismo kaya na-trap na sila, di na sila nakalabas," said the couple’s son Enrico Reyes.
A volunteer firefighter was also hurt in the blaze, reports said.
The blaze started past 7 p.m. at the second floor of one of the houses along Gulayan Street in Barangay Concepcion.
The fire quickly spread and destroyed the residents of around 60 families.
The fire was placed under control but arson probers have yet to enter the narrow street to avoid further accident since the electric company has yet to turn off the power supply in the affected area.
