MANILA, Philippines - The government has offered P5 million each to anyone who can give information that will lead to the arrest of the two Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commanders who led the recent attacks in North Cotabato and Lanao del Norte.
This was announced Tuesday night by Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno in a press briefing in Malacañang.
Subjects of current military and manhunt operations in Mindanao are MILF commanders Ameril Umbra Kato and Abdullah Macapaar, also known as Kumander Bravo, leaders of the rebel units that attacked villages in North Cotabato and Lanao del Norte.
Puno said the reward aims to expedite the arrest of Kato and Makapaar for engaging in criminal acts like arson, murder, and hostage taking among others
The government has already filed cases against Kato and his men for seizing 15 villages in North Cotabato two weeks ago.
National Police chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr said more than 60 cases including serious illegal detention, arson, murder, robbery and attempted murder were initially filed against Kato at a fiscal's office in Kidapawan City.
Similar charges is being readied against Makapaar which would be filed in a fiscal in Lanao del Norte.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro said that if evidence warrants, additional charges of use of landmines and explosives and use of minors in combat would also be leveled against the two MILF officials. - GMANews.TV
