Suspected New People's Army guerrillas attacked a cell site of Globe Telecommunications Inc. in Lemery, Batangas province, radio dzMM reported Monday.
The report said 12 NPA rebels detonated bombs inside the cabin housing the generator of the cell site in Maigsing Dahilig early Monday.
The suspects then fled on board a passenger-type jeep. No one was injured in the incident.
Globe cell sites have been frequent targets of communist rebels after the telecoms firm refused to pay "revolutionary taxes" to the NPA. At least 16 Globe cell sites have been attacked since the start of the year.
Police said NPA rebels over the weekend attacked five Globe cell sites in the cities of Ligao, Legazpi including the towns of Jovellar all in Albay, Barcelona, Sorsogon, and Ragay in Camarines Sur .
