MANILA, Philippines - An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Tanza-Esperanza village in Iloilo City, hurting a male village watchman who was sleeping in the area's outpost, radio dzBB reported.
The report said the incident took place past 4 a.m. Wednesday, injuring Rolando Calahatan in the head, leg, and right portion of his body. The blast destroyed three of the outpost's windows, according to dzBB.
DzBB quoted authorities as saying that the perpetrators could really be after Calahatan. This was the second time that an IED exploded inside the outpost. In December 2007, a device was thrown at the outpost that also hurt Calahatan.
