BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - The man who threw a hand grenade at the Carol's Billiard Hall in Block 4 of the Hilltop market last June 29 could speak Ilocano fluently, the police said.

Two persons died in the explosion while 16 others were wounded.

One of the fatalities was identified as Joel Ruiz Desier, 29, a resident of Hilltop market. The other remains unidentified as of Friday afternoon.

Those injured were rushed to the Santo Niño Hospital and Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.

According to the police, the grenade-thrower is between 20 and 26 years old, about 5'5" in height, of medium build, with fair complexion, and straight medium-length hair.

Responding Baguio and Scene of the Crime Operations (Soco) policemen recovered fragments and a safety lever of an exploded hand grenade within the area.

Baguio City Police Office (BCPO)-Station 7 chief Engelbert Soriano said they are not sure yet about the motive behind the explosion, but they are looking into the angle of vendetta.
