Gunmen raid Munti jeans factory, take workers hostage

Gunmen raided a jeans factory in Muntinlupa City and took hostage at least 100 employees, reports said Thursday.

Police said four of the raiders have been positively identified by factory employees through the Muntinlupa police rogues' gallery.

Officials have yet to name the suspects.

Police said the four have standing warrants of arrest for a bank robbery. They were also linked to another factory raid in Parañaque City last week.

Initial investigations said 10 to 12 gunmen forcibly entered the factory along East Service Road in Barangay Cupang.

The heavily-armed robbers held the security guards on duty and took their firearms, including a shotgun, two 9mm pistols and two .38 revolvers.

The robbers barged into the factory and held at least 100 employees hostage. The robbers also went up on the factory's second floor and ordered a supervisor to open the vault, which reportedly only had 1,000 euros.

The robbers escaped with the cash and the employees' cellular phones and other personal belongings.

A manhunt has been launchd for the robbers.
