The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday raised storm signal number one in four provinces in Luzon due to tropical storm “Julian.”
PAGASA identified the provinces as Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra and La Union.
In its Severe Weather Bulletin No. 4 issued 5 p.m., the weather bureau said the storm has intensified further and moving towards the South China Sea.
As of 4 p.m., the storm was spotted 290 kilometers northwest of Laoag City. It was moving west at 15 kph.
Julian has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
The storm is expected to be 320 kms west northwest of Laoag City or over the South China Sea by Tuesday afternoon.
