Pampanga Board OKs daycare workers' subsidy

MABALACAT, Philippines - The Pampanga Provincial Board (PB) has approved the appropriation of subsidy for daycare workers in the province.

The resolution, sponsored by Board Members Tarcicio Halili, Lina Bagasina and Edna David, was unanimously supported by their colleagues during Monday's session.

Halili said the PB recognizes the sacrifices of barangay daycare workers in developing the young minds of children aged two to six years old.

"They have been partners of the barangays and local government units in helping the community without any salary. Their services are only compensated through the meager allowance from the internal revenue allotment of barangays with some support from the municipality," Halili said.

With the high-cost of living, he said, the daycare workers can hardly meet the basic needs of their families.

The subsidy will be a big help in alleviating the financial problems of the barangay daycare workers, according to him.

"This assistance is long overdue," he said.

Halili also revealed that an institutionalized search for outstanding barangay daycare workers will be filed before the PB. They will be awarded during the Pampanga Day celebration, he said.

Local government units (LGUs) are also encouraged to recognize outstanding daycare workers in their respective towns. The awardees in the municipal level will also be honored during the Aldo ning Kapampangan held every December.

"This program will surely motivate our volunteer workers to strive for excellence with their service to the people," Halili said. - Sun.Star Pampanga
