Tropical storm Igme (international codename Fung-Wong) has gained more strength as it moved towards the Batanes-Taiwan area Saturday morning, weather bureau PAGASA said.
At 4 a.m., Igme was spotted by PAGASA's satellite 650 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. It was moving west at a faster pace of 15 kph.

The weather bureau said Igme's will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over the western sections of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA expects Igme to stay near Basco, Batanes until Monday. It will get nearer the northwest area of Taipei, Taiwan by Tuesday.
Residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to take all the necessary precautions against possible flashfloods and landslides.
