Police on Tuesday took a woman in Pasig City for questioning after she allegedly stole the Mini-Cooper car of her boyfriend.
The car was discovered at a carwash shop in Barangay Malinaw around 1 a.m. after police flashed a city-wide alarm.
Carwash shop owner Rudy de Leon denied allegations that he was behind the vehicle theft.
"I don't know anything about that. It was only brought here for cleaning," he said.
An unidentified shop attendant, meanwhile, told police that a woman named Ditas Chavez brought the vehicle. Chavez, it turned out, lived nearby.
Chavez said she did not steal the car. She said she bought the vehicle with her money though it was registered under her boyfriend's name.
Pressed further, the woman also admitted that she broke the car's windshield and window.
Chavez said she vented her ire on the car after seeing her boyfriend with another woman.
Police said a complaint will still be filed against Chavez despite her insistence that the car is hers. With a report from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
