C. Visayas pushes faster processing of business permits

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center in Central Visayas held a dry run for a harmonized form for business permit applications, to pave the way for an automated business name registration, permitting and licensing system here.

Center manager Minerva Yap said the harmonized application form will do away with the voluminous application forms of various agencies that require the same data. The harmonized form was drawn up after a workshop financed by GTZ-SMEDSEP, a sustainable employment project implemented by the German Technical Cooperation.

"This will ensure the uniformity and consistency of the applicant’s records which are commonly shared by the different agencies. The harmonized application form is also seen as a tool that is expected to pave the way towards an envisioned automated or electronically operated business name which will be piloted in Cebu City," Ms. Yap said in a statement.

The agencies involved are the Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Home Development Mutual Fund and the Cebu city government. - BusinessWorld
