15 minors ‘rescued’ from Manila streets

MANILA, Philippines - Fifteen minors were rescued from the streets of Manila during a clearing operation conducted by the city's social welfare workers before dawn Friday.

Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported Friday morning that the 15, whose names were withheld, were turned over to the city Social Welfare and Development office for rehabilitation.

Many of the minors picked up were found dependent on methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), rugby and other drugs, the report said.

The teams also picked up several adults but turned them over to the Manila Police District (MPD) for verification. - GMANews.TV
