MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has detained three policemen believed to be involved in the ballot-snatching incident in the former province of Shariff Kabunsuan during Mondays elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome identified the three as SPO1 Cairodin Tomawis, PO1 Alfatta Tomawis and PO3 Ibrahim Macariwang, all assigned to the Barira Municipal Station in Shariff Kabunsuan.
Bartolome said the three are currently detained at the headquarters of the Police Regional Office ARMM in Camp Gen. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao.
They will be facing charges for violation of election code of the COMELEC (Commission on Elections) and they will also be charged administratively for grave misconduct, said Bartolome in a press briefing in Camp Crame Wednesday.
Bartolome said a thorough and impartial investigation is now being conducted to determine the extent of the three cops involvement in the alleged ballot-snatching.
If it would be proven (involvement), then that would merit their dismissal from the service, he said. - GMANews.TV
