Two killed, 23 hurt as bus falls into ravine

Two passengers, including a woman, died and 23 others were wounded when a bus fell into a 15-foot ravine in San Pedro, Laguna, before dawn Tuesday.

Reports said a JAC Liner passenger bus with body number 358 was racing with a 10-wheeler truck when it lost control and fell into the ravine on the shoulder of the South Luzon Expressway. The bus fell near a community of homes near the ravine in Barangay San Vicente.

The bus came from Lucena City and was bound for Cubao in Quezon City.

The unidentified passengers were already dead when their bodies were recovered from the bus.

The injured, meanwhile, have been brought to nearby hospitals.

The management of the bus company has assured victims that it will shoulder all their hospital and funeral expenses.

Some of the victims, meanwhile, are contemplating of filing criminal charges against the management. With a report from Jenny Reyes, ABS-CBN News
