BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) will celebrate its 21st foundation day on Monday, which has been declared a special non-working holiday.
The proclamation issued by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita moved the CAR event from July 15 to July 14 so that residents in the region would enjoy an extended weekend.
Officials said the theme of this year's celebration is "Moving forward! Cordillera on the high road to development."
A flag ceremony at the Baguio Athletic Bowl would kick off the celebration. Cultural presentations by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples would follow after the flag-raising event. The Regional Development Council would also hold a program at SM Baguio.
The celebration would be capped by simultaneous tree planting activities in selected areas in the region and the inauguration of the Baguio - Aritao Road. - GMANews.TV
