Two college students were arrested for divesting a police official's condominium unit of half a million cash and valuables on Monday afternoon.
Nabbed were Ivan Ocampo, 20, a student of the La Consolacion College and his underage accomplice who studies at the Philippine Merchant Marine School in Manila.
Police said Superintendent Gainarod, assigned to the Philippine National Police Training Service in Camp Crame, Quezon City, and his brother were out when the two students forcibly entered their condominium unit at the Pearl of the Orient building along Roxas Boulevard in Manila around 4 p.m. Monday.
Gainarod told police investigators that he was attending a wedding while his brother went out for a jog. He said his brother, Al, and caught the teen suspect already exiting their condominium unit.
The suspect admitted that they took cash and valuables amounting to P500,000 from the policeman's apartment. He told investigators that Ocampo was able to escape with the loot.
Ocampo was arrested by policemen in an entrapment operation at the Blue Wave center along Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.
Police said charges of robbery will be filed against Ocampo while the minor will be transferred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. -- Dominic Almenor, ABS-CBN News
