The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has also approved fare hikes in 14 regions, including Metro Manila.
The board approved a P1.00 jeepney fare hike in the minimum jeepney fares in Regions 1 to 12 and the CARAGA Administrative Region.
With the fare hike, commuters in the National Capital Region, CARAGA, and Regions 1 to 5 would now have to pay P8.50 - up from P7.50 - for the first four kilometers of their trip.
Commuters in Regions 6, 7, and 11 would now have to pay a minimum fare of P8.00 up from P7.00, while those in Regions 8, 9, 10, and 12 would now have to pay P7.50 up from P6.50.
However, the actual fare hike would only be P0.50, after the LTFRB already gave a P0.50 provisional fare hike last May.
The fare hike in NCR and Regions 3 and 4 will take effect on Monday, while the other regions will feel the hike on Tuesday. Report from Sheryll Mundo, ABS-CBN News
