Flashfloods were reported to have affected 2,655 residents or 531 families in Ilog town in Negros Occidental Tuesday morning.
A report from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office said that portions of six barangays of Ilog were submerged in floodwaters due to continuous rains.
The affected areas were identified as Barangays 1, Canlubang, Vista Alegre, Dancalan, Andulauan and Delicioso.
Purok Libas Talisay in Barangay Delicioso was reported to have the most number of affected residents with 127 families. 124 families were reported affected by flooding in Purok Embaskadoro in Barangay 1; while 100 families in Purok Mangga Vargas, Barangay Calubang; 96 families in Crossing Calubang, Barangay Dancalan; 56 families in Purok Mo-og, Barangay Vista Alegre and 28 families in Purok Limbo, Barangay Andulauan.
Despite the waist-deep flood however, the affected families did not leave their homes.
Malabong bridge also in Ilog town, meanwhile, was reported to be temporarily impassable to tricycles and pedicabs after water from Andulawan River overflowed Monday afternoon.
Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Ilog police chief, said the overflow in some portions of the bridge was estimated to be two-feet. He said public utility jeepneys, buses and trucks can still pass the bridge.
Members of the Ilog-Dancalan Emergency Assistance Rescue Team were deployed to monitor the situation and to prevent any accident that may occur due to the overflow.
In Cauayan town meanwhile, the body of Marilyn Oliverio was found in Sitio Abakahan, Barangay Guiljungan.
Oliverio and her friend Melanie Elardes were last seen crossing the river 10 a.m. Monday after they attended a benefit dance.
The two however were reported to have been carried away by the strong current. Elardes is still missing. With reports from Marty Go and Yasmin Pascual-Dormido, ABS-CBN Bacolod
