North Cotabato cops tighten security for Arroyo visit

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines - The provincial police force in North Cotabato will implement strict inspection along the Cotabato-Davao highway to secure the safety of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her delegation who will visit a rubber plantation in Makilala on Monday.

PNP Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Lester Camba instructed all municipal police offices to be alert all the time while the Presidents’ delegation is in North Cotabato.

The Cotabato Rapid Response Group (CRRG) with intelligence operatives from the Philippine Army have been sent to the rubber plantation site as advance security for the President.

Camba said the flow of traffic along Cotabato-Davao highway might be affected by the strict inspections that will be implemented effective tonight.

The PNP Cotabato is also instructing the drivers and commuters to cooperate with the inspecting team in order to avoid delay of other public vehicles.

President Arroyo will first visit Cotabato City to inspect the damage brought by floods caused by the overflowing of Rio Grande De Mindanao due to clogging of the water hyacinth.

The Presidents’ delegation is expected to arrive around 9:30 a.m. from Cotabato City on board a presidential chopper at the Makilala Central Elementary School landing ground.

President Arroyo and other Cabinet officials will then proceed to a model rubber plantation at Sitio Del Asuncion in Poblacion village where Gov. Jesus Sacdalan will brief the Presidents’ team about rubber propagation.

A group of rubber tappers will also demonstrate how to tap mature rubber trees to give complete picture to the presidents’ team.

President Arroyo will then proceed to General Santos City for another visit. A diner with all local officials in Region 12 will take place in Polomolok, South Cotabato in the evening. - GMANews.TV
