MANILA, Philippines A businesswoman, who had just withdrawn money from the bank, was hurt after a group of armed robbers attacked and robbed her of P1 million in Manila on Monday afternoon.
A radio report quoted Senior Superintendent Marieto Valerio, Pasay police chief, as identifying the wounded victim as businessman Becky Lopez.
Valerio said that Lopez had withdrawn P1 million from a Metrobank branch along FB Harrison Street in Pasay City before the robbery incident.
Investigation showed that the group of suspected robbers initially trailed Lopez before stopping her along Taft Avenue corner Apacible Street in neighboring Manila.
The armed assailants shot Lopez repeatedly and snatched her bag containing the money.
The victim was rushed to the nearby Manila Sanitarium Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
