13 Russian teenagers go on trial for hate killings - prosecutors

MOSCOW - Moscow prosecutors say 13 nationalist teenagers have gone on trial for two alleged hate killings and the attempted killing of 10 other people.

Moscow City court spokeswoman Anna Usacheva said Monday the teenagers are standing trial for killings and attacks on non-Slavic people, including children and a pregnant woman.

Prosecutors say they killed two men and assaulted another 20 last year, posting footage of the attacks on nationalist Internet forums.

The court said the defendants organized a group to kill natives of former Soviet republics of Central Asia and Caucasus.

The Sova Center rights group says it has registered 59 racially motivated killings this year and 89 in 2007. - AP
