A dead teenager was found floating in a creek in Roxas District, Quezon City Wednesday night.
At 10 p.m. Wednesday, village watchmen led ABS-CBN News down the creek where they found the lifeless body.
Police investigators, meanwhile, suspect that the victim, who is around 15 years old, drowned at the height of a heavy downpour the night before.
The victim was found lying flat on his chest on the piles of trash floating on the estuary.
Residents said that the teenager might have been carried away by the strong current.
"We found him (victim) dead.The residents saw him first. Kids go to this creek just to look for trash," police said.
Village watchmen suspect that the victim came from another area of the city. They said that children usually swim in the creek when the water rises.
Police requested village officials to construct a fence along the creek to prevent other people from drowning in it. It was learned that the victim found Wednesday night was the second to have drowned in the creek.
As of posting time, the victim has yet to be identified.
