Group calls for end to political intramurals in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines - The militant Bayan-Central Luzon on Monday called on the Pampanga Mayors League and the Provincial Board members to set aside their political differences with Gov. Ed Panlilio and instead, work with the priest-turned-governor to ease the economic sufferings of the people in Pampanga province.

The militant group's call came amid reports that the PML would move for the recall of Panlilio on allegations that the priest-turned-governor "failed" in his first year in office.

An earlier PML statement signed by 19 of the 21 city and municipal mayors of Pampanga quoted the group as saying that the province is "hopeless" under Panlilio.

The recall initiative came even as a "face-off"off between Panlilio and the Vice-Governor Joseller Guiao-led provincial board is to take place take place at 2 p.m. Monday at the Benigno Aquino Hall at the capitol complex.

The planned recall move against Panlilio’s came after the governor filed a plunder case against alleged gambling lord Rodolfo "Bong" Pineda.
