Crew, equipment of MV Ocean Papa salvor arrives

The equipment and crew of the company that would undertake the salvage operation of the sunken MV Ocean Papa has arrived in waters off Culasi in Antique province.

Divers of CJ Gaspar Salvage Company immediately conducted survey operations in the area.

The operation to salvage the boat which sunk at the height of Typhoon "Fank" is expected to take two or more months.

The salvage company has also leased an area where parts of the boat that would be recovered would be taken.

The Oceanic Container Lines has also obtained a permit to transport for scrap materials that would be recovered from sunken vessel.

Containers from the MV Ocean Papa have reportedly been found since August 6, the container which had the toxic chemical toluene di-isocyanate however has yet to be found.

The Philippine Coast Guard however still has to install spill booms around the area before the salvage operation could be conducted to prevent oil which may seep out from the sunken vessel from spreading. With a report from Joyce Clavecillas, ABS-CBN Iloilo
