38 GROs ‘rescued’ in predawn raids on Manila KTVs

MANILA, Philippines - Manila police "rescued" at least 38 guest relations officers (GROs) following raids on two KTV bars in Manila's Sta. Cruz district before dawn Wednesday.

Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported early Wednesday that the Manila Police District Station 3 Special Reaction Group raided the bars following tips that prostitution was rampant there.

One of the bars yielded 16 girls, while the second yielded 22. Police are now verifying if the girls have the proper work permits, and if some of them are minors.

The report did not say if anyone from the two bars was brought to the MPD Station 3 or to MPD headquarters for questioning. - GMANews.TV
