A former member of the Presidential Security Group was arrested Monday as a suspect in the murder of a jeweller on Recto Avenue two weeks ago.
Arrested was Mateo de Torres, a resident of 490 Mansanas St., Sampaloc, Manila. Police recovered a .38 pistol and bullets from the suspect.
Police said de Torres shot and killed Danilo Pagsanjan, 59, a jeweller operating at Golden Valley Building in 1512 Claro M. Recto Avenue, Santa Cruz, Manila. Investigators said the murder might have been started by a fight over the stall.
Murder charges are being readied against de Torres.
